A production-ready version of the new Ford B-Max is all geared up to make its debut at the Geneva Motor Show, which is scheduled to commence this March. The original design and technologies of this vehicle are being claimed by its maker to set a new benchmark for smart, compact, city-friendly cars.

Said to kick in class-leading load-space, this ride will be offered to its buyers along with a choice for two different engines. The B-Max concept was first revealed at last year’s Geneva Motor Show. There, it grabbed quite some attention for its unique door concept which comprised an integrated B-pillar construction and twin sliding doors. Including this trait, a number of other features also manage to make it into the production version. At this year’s convention, Ford president and CEO, Alan Mulally, himself will be seen unveiling the new B-Max.

“The B-Max combines an exciting, innovative design with features that only previously have been found in bigger cars. It’s a brand new car that responds to the needs of an increasing number of customers who want much more from their small cars,” revealed Stephen Odell, chairman and CEO, Ford of Europe.

Upon its release, this car will be offered with Ford’s proprietary 1.0-litre EcoBoost petrol engines as well as its Duratorq TDCi diesel units. The much touted doors of the B-Max will supposedly introduce a new approach to door construction, delivering easy access for drivers, passengers and luggage. This is mainly because the center pillars of this car have been integrated into its doors.

The Ford B-Max will be made available for purchase in the UK, by September this year.
