Back in September last year, the Volkswagen Up five-door model was revealed to the world at the Frankfurt Motor Show, and now the production version of this car has been announced to be rolled out in the UK. Said to be equipped with the same virtues as its three-door sibling, this car features a 2.42 m long wheelbase, a 251-litre boot, a three-cylinder engine, new safety features and an infotainment system.
This car sports a headroom of 947mm at its back, while at the front, the measurements read 993mm. Moreover, with 789mm of legroom, this model almost offers the same space as its three-door counterpart. The rear seat base of the five-door Up is 378mm and holds a slightly higher stance than the front, so as to apparently provide passengers with a clear view of the road ahead.

Safety options on the new Volkswagen Up five-door model comprise front as well as side airbags, ABS with Hydraulic Brake Assist, Isofix child seat preparation in the rear and standard ESP. Furthermore, buyers can even opt for the City Emergency Braking system which doesn’t come as standard. This technology makes use of sensors to scan the space ahead of the vehicle and apply the brakes automatically if it detects that the car is about to hit an object in front. It can be purchased for an additional £225.
The Maps and More infotainment system that forms a part of this car is a mobile Personal Infotainment Device which was supposedly developed in order to organize navigation, telephone, information and entertainment. This system comes as standard on the High Up models and above, but it is optional on the rest of the range.
The Volkswagen Up five-door model will be delivered to its UK buyers in the second half of the year. Prices of this ride are yet to be confirmed by the German carmaker.
